Liz and Casey traded acreage and a riding mower for a charming street tucked into an older neighborhood in Boulder. Built in the 1920s and given a second-story addition in the 90s, their little house had character in spades, but raising a growing family inside its walls was getting harder by the day. With kids growing fast and a home showing its age, Liz and Casey came to us ready to refresh its look, rework its function, and make their small footprint live a whole lot bigger.
“Working with Bunn & Sons was a delight. You never had to worry about anything. They were always there..." hear more on this testimonial video from Liz & Casey.
Cramped Kitchen Layout: The kitchen was too tight to cook, gather, and keep little hands safely out of the way all at the same time.
Aging Bathrooms: Both bathrooms were outdated and quietly falling apart, making everyday routines feel like one more thing to worry about.
Tight Square Footage: With kids growing fast, every square foot needed to pull its weight, and too many of them weren’t.
Old-House Anxieties: A home nearing its 100th birthday carries questions about what might go wrong next, a weight Liz and Casey no longer wanted to carry.
Our design team reworked the primary bath, expanded the kitchen footprint by rethinking walls and a closet, and found clever ways to stretch every corner of this cozy home. Liz and Casey brought taste and vision to the finish selections, and the result is a space that feels intentional from the floorboards up.
Removing existing walls and a closet opened up a light-filled kitchen where Liz, Casey, and the kids can actually cook, eat, and hang out together.
A frameless glass shower, floor-to-ceiling subway tile, and a built-in bench replaced a cramped, dated layout with a bathroom that feels like a small, daily exhale..
New maple hardwood runs through the entire main level, tying every room together with warmth and continuity.
A brand-new (and delightfully tiny) downstairs bathroom makes smart use of every inch.
Thoughtful wall and closet removal gave the kitchen the footprint it always deserved.
Updated trim and fresh paint across the main level carry the new look from room to room.
