Kevin and Lauri inherited this Broomfield farmhouse from Kevin's grandfather, and after years away from Colorado, they were ready to come home. They wanted to restore the family farm to its former glory and turn the century-old house into the place where they'd spend the next chapter of their lives.

Outdated, Abandoned Systems: Several old HVAC and plumbing systems had been left in place over the years, no longer functional and taking up space behind the walls.
A Layout That No Longer Fit: The kitchen, living room, master suite, laundry room, and smaller bedroom were all working against the way Kevin and Lauri wanted to live in the home.
Structural Concerns: Sections of the flooring and roof systems needed reinforcement, and large stretches of crawlspace sat over bare soil with no vapor barrier in place.
Tired Finishes Throughout: Cabinetry, countertops, appliances, plumbing and lighting fixtures, tile, paint, doors, and windows were all overdue for a full refresh.
We gutted the home to the studs, removed bearing walls to open up the main level, and used 2D and 3D design tools to reimagine the layout alongside Kevin and Lauri. New systems went in across the board, structure was reinforced where it needed it, and every finish was selected with the couple to bring the farmhouse back to life with the warmth they remembered.
Reconfigured walls, white cabinetry, granite countertops, and a generous island give Kevin and Lauri a kitchen that's as social as it is functional.
The new gas cooktop, double wall oven, and oversized hood let "Farmer Kevin" and Lauri host, cook, and gather without bumping into each other.
A deep soaking tub, walk-in glass shower, and warm stone-look tile turn an everyday space into a quiet retreat.
New red oak floors and built-in cabinetry frame the original stone fireplace, keeping the soul of the old farmhouse right where it belongs.
Bearing walls were thoughtfully removed and the kitchen, living room, master suite, laundry room, and smaller bedroom were redesigned to fit how Kevin and Lauri actually live.
Every HVAC, electrical, and plumbing system in the home was replaced.
Sections of flooring and roof framing were reinforced and reframed, and vapor barriers were installed across large areas of previously bare crawlspace soil.
All exterior doors and windows were replaced throughout the home.
New hardwood was installed across most of the main level.
New cabinetry, countertops, appliances, plumbing and lighting fixtures, tile, glass, and paint were installed throughout the house.
A second bathroom was redone with a cream vanity, glass shower, and glass tile backsplash.
What was once a century-old farmhouse with old plumbing and HVAC systems and worn-out finishes is now a comfortable, worry-free home Kevin and Lauri can settle into for good. The history is still there in the bones, the fireplace, and the views, but the house finally fits the life they came back to Colorado to live, freeing them up to focus on the next phase of the farm.
