When Patricia faced the future alone, her son Ryan and his family opened their home to her. What started as an unfinished 1,600-square-foot basement became a self-sufficient living suite designed around Patricia's needs, her style, and the quiet independence she wanted to hold onto.
"From start to finish Tom Bunn and team did a great job. We were looking for a firm fixed price contract and they made it happen. They listened to the concept we had in mind to turn a roughly 1,700 square foot unfinished basement into a customized living space. Their project manager, Anthony, planned out everything from rough drawings all the way down to final selections. There were weekly progress reports given with photos and heads up on what was next. They were very professional and we would definitely go to them and their sub-contractors for future projects."

A Future That Felt Uncertain: Rising retirement costs and long-term care expenses were weighing on the whole family’s financial picture.

Our team reimagined the entire basement using 2D and 3D design alongside material samples, then set up showroom appointments so Patricia could see and touch appliances, countertops, and finishes in person. The result is a full home within a home: living room, kitchen, laundry, master suite, and storage, all on its own HVAC zone with walkout access to the outdoors.
A built-in seat, grab bar, and easy-clean surfaces mean Patricia's bathroom supports her today and will keep supporting her as her needs change.
A private, full-size stacked washer and dryer with custom cabinetry means Patricia never has to haul a basket up the stairs or share a schedule with a busy family of four.
Patricia can cook her own breakfast and lunch in a kitchen that's hers alone, with generously wide aisles that stay easy to navigate.
French doors with built-in embedded blinds open onto the patio, giving Patricia easy access to the sunshine she cherishes.
Mint green and blue finishes chosen by Patricia, the first time she'd designed a space entirely to her own taste.

We replaced the existing equipment serving the main and upper levels and added a dedicated zone for Patricia's suite, so she can keep her space as warm as she likes.
